BRAND: Sally Hansen
PRODUCT: Miracle Gel Nail Polish
PRICE: £9.99 each
Firstly, let me just say I am a huge fan of Sally Hansen nail products. I always use their strength and repair varnishes, and I love their Complete Salon Manicure Nail Colour – I own SO many.
But.
This product is such a massive disappointment.
I have been so excited to try this gel polish. £9.99 per bottle seemed a little steep, but £20 for multiple applications seems a bargain compared to a £25 one off salon treatment. I have used at-home gel nail kits before with a UV light, and the results are fantastic. However, I hate the long process of removal and re application. This is what attracted me to try the Miracle Gel.
The promise…
The ONLY TRUE 2-STEP GEL MANICURE with no UV light needed. Over 45 shades to choose from! And it's only from Sally Hansen. Leading the revolution in gel technology.

I liked the idea of a nude shade to create a healthy looking nail for everyday wear so I bought the shade Bare Dare 120. After two coats, I could still see areas of my nail which were not completely opaque, so I had to apply a third coat. I then applied the top coat. My nails looked really glossy and impressive. However, the varnish took ages to set and I was left with smudges, ridges and ripples. The manicure looked terrible after only a couple of days and I was missing huge chunks of polish. I presumed this could be because of the three layers of colour, so I was prepared to give it another chance.
Cue, my next visit to Boots to invest in another bottle of Miracle Gel Colour. Another £9.99. This time I wanted something much darker to avoid the problem I had with Bare Dare. I found Spice Age 560 – a delicious deep cocoa colour with a burgundy shimmer. The shade is delightful and looks great on my nails. This time I only needed two coats and then one coat of Top Coat. A couple of days in and I already have chips, especially around the edge of my nail end. I am so disappointed. I have now invested nearly £30 on this product with the promise of a ‘gel manicure’. This product cannot be compared to a gel manicure in any way. It is simply a nail polish, with gel like features. My biggest frustration is I believe I would get a better lasting manicure with the original Complete Salon Manicure Nail Colour – of which I have many bottles. There is no way this gel polish would last 14 days – and I’m not prepared to walk around with horrendously chipped nails to find out!
My advice, do not buy if you are looking for a professional gel finish manicure – either use an at home UV kit or visit a salon. If you want a great nail polish, stick to the normal Complete Salon Manicure Nail Colour by Sally Hansen.
