“At Tropic, we believe that your skin is your greatest asset. As your largest organ, it deserves that extra TLC from outside as well as in. You should be able to trust what you put on your skin and for that reason, we are committed to using only premium, responsibly sourced natural ingredients. Hand made with the freshest ingredients in our brand new Surrey Beauty Kitchen, we have taken quality and freshness to a new level.” [tropicskincare.com]
I watched the 2010 series of The Apprentice which featured Susan Ma and I was inspired by her passion and working ethic. Susan Ma started selling ‘Body Smooth Perfecting Polish’ in jam jars at Greenwich Market. Lord Alan Sugar liked the quality and ethos of the products so much that he invested into the business 50:50. I was so pleased to see the arrival of her skincare range and I couldn’t wait to try it for myself.
Luckily, a previous work colleague now works as a Tropic Beauty Ambassador, one of 3700 Ambassadors now working in the UK. Several messages theme in the Tropic brand; pure, honest, effective, vegan, natural, affordable and cruelty free. Sounds too good to be true? Wrong.
The products really are fantastic. I particularly like how the bottles are simple and only feature key information and a succinct list of well-known ingredients. My ambassador told me you could eat all of the ingredients used in the products. There are no nasty chemicals – you will recognise each ingredient. This in itself was a huge selling point to me with so much attention in the media given to product nasties and their harmful effects.
If you haven’t been to a Tropic skincare event or met with a Tropic Ambassador my advice would be to arrange it ASAP! My Ambassador was incredible; she knew everything about the products, was inspired by the brand and truly loved her job. This really matters when you are about to invest in a new skincare regime. This regime is called the A.B.C. skincare regime.
A Abolish dirt, dead skin cells and all makeup with our refreshing Smoothing Cleanser and Organic Bamboo face cloth for deeply cleansed and purified skin.
B Balance your skin pH and moisture levels with our Vitamin Toner Refreshing Spritz for a brighter, more revitalised skin complexion.
C Care and protect your skin with our deeply nourishing Skin Revive, packed to bursting with powerful vitamins, antioxidants, fruit and flower actives that visibly firms and intensely hydrates for instant skin radiance.

The products are suitable for all skin types. To validate this, myself (combination skin), my mother (aging skin some scarring), and my 16 year old sister (dry and acne prone skin) all purchased our own Tropic skincare regime. We have now re-ordered and are using our second lot of products. (I have also added a couple more Tropic products to my collection – reviews to follow shortly!)
The Smoothing Cleanser is in a large bottle with a pump dispenser. I like this as it is easy to use at the sink and you can empty the entire product. It also includes a soft cloth which is always handy when starting a new skin care regime. The formula is creamy and only requires a couple of pumps. It left my skin feeling refreshed and nourished, unlike other cleansers which can leave my combination skin feeling tight and dry. The Vitamin Toner is very refreshing, and I can imagine myself using this during the summer months to cool down. The Skin Revive Firming Nourishing cream is an all in one product suitable for everyone. I like this simplicity. Too often I find myself sifting through ten adaptations of the same product to suit my skin type. This does it all. I use it day and night.
[Additional products] The Eye Refresh Roll On is great for a cooling under eye massage before you start the day. The Face Smooth polish is extremely luxurious and a little goes a long way. It leaves you skin feeling nourished and moisturised and just yummy! The Lip Love Balm has a slight yellow tint to it, so I tend to use it at night time before I go to bed to soothe my lips. Finally the Organic Facial Elixir Oil. A golden amber miracle in a bottle. This really does feel like a little treat as you massage it into your skin. Your face will be left feeling wonderfully soft with a glowing sheen; no oily mess! [Review on Tamanu Balm coming soon]
I urge you to look on the Tropic website here. Look into the delightful list of exotic and enticing ingredients; shea butter, avocado and golden jojoba to mention a few. Invest in yourself and give this a go.
